We would like to thank
everyone for their interest, support and encouragement.
Without it
the race would not have been as successful as it was. We
ended up placing 44th out of 72 teams. We were quite pleased
considering it was our first participation and we did not
speak the common language of French, which was a challenge
in
itself.

Come
join them for the spectacle of the 14th year of the Rallye
Aicha des Gazelles as they roar into gear. In April of 2004,
the silence
of the Moroccan
desert will once again be drowned out by the revving of trucks, buggies, and
motorbikes driven by women from around the world. They will
compete during 8
days over 1550 miles (roughly the distance from New York to Jamaica) under
the intense conditions of the Sahara Desert where temperatures
can range
from low 80's during the day to low 50's at night. They'll face intense
conditions, such as sandstorms, poisonous snakes and scorpions.
Along the
way they'll be totally responsible for servicing their
car--quite a feat
for women who know nothing about
auto mechanics. Using
only basic navigational tools of a compass and map to guide
the way, each team will race to various checkpoints. During
the first
four days, there
will be one checkpoint per day. The next two legs are two-day
trips and the night is spent sleeping in their vehicle on the sand.
As you watch the race
against the spectacular backdrop of sweeping dunes, you cannot
help but be carried away. Experience the Trophee Aicha des Gazelles
with these amazing
women as they push the limits and show the world exactly what
it means to man a vehicle.
